Rushden Lakes is a £100 million out of town leisure and shopping centre, accessed off the A45, at Crown Park, near Waitrose. The development includes shops, visitor centre and restaurants. Opened in 2018, phase two will include a 14-screen multiplex cinema.
In addition to the retail/leisure facilities, the development provides a pedestrian and cycle bridge over the A45 linking Rushden Lakes to the established town, waterfront restaurants and boathouse run by Canoe2, a lakeside visitor centre and footpaths and cycle routes.
Rushden Lakes hopes to create 3,000 new jobs and open up some of Northamptonshire’s most stunning countryside for people to enjoy free of charge. Just 30 acres of the 244 acre site will be built on. Public access will be restored to the network of lakes and there will be water-based facilities for community use including free open access for the local scouts, guides and sea cadets.
